Today is our FIA Celebration Service! We will celebrate God's goodness and hear testimonies of how He worked in and through us last Sunday. God is on the move in our city! God give us the courage to continue to go where you are working and be your hands and feet. Send us out into the world to make you known!
Today we conclude our two part series called Falling Forward. Last week we realized what it means to really be a disciple of Jesus, living a life that allows us to be with Jesus so we can be like Him. When Jesus asks us to "come, follow me" it's an all-in decision, not a choice. Are we intentionally helping other follow Jesus, even when we don't feel like it, by worshiping together, meeting together, and serving together?
Today we begin a short series called Falling Forward. Is God enough for me? Since the beginning of time, man was not alone - we were created for relationship with God and with one another. God's desire is for loving relationship and is expressed throughout Scripture and settles on one key word: disciple. Do we have the kind of relationship with Jesus that is based on knowledge? Or do we have the kind of relationship with Jesus that makes us disciples, filled with desire to be like our Teacher, following him where he goes so that we can start to think and act and speak exactly like him?
Today we celebrate Labor Day. Yes, it is Labor Day weekend already, marking the end of summer and an extra day off of work for many of us. What does the Bible say about work? Jesus was a hard worker. We'll see what we can learn for Jesus' example and discover that God wants to work through us as well. Where is God working? Why not join Him in what He is doing? We'll also share communion together and celebrate the finished work of Jesus on the cross!
Today we focus on back to school. I know, hard to believe how quickly summer has gone, but none the less, it is time to prepare for the school year routine. Children and youth today face many challenges. How can we prepare our kids in a secular world? We'll get a glimpse today of what life is like in the public schools and what we can do to give our kids the solid foundation they so desperately need to thrive in today's culture. Thank you to our special speakers today: Liz Sohl and Derek Beekhuizen.
